You start the tour at the cross-country ski trail parking lot behind the REWE supermarket in Neustadt. After a few meters, you’ll see the rollerblading and skating track on your left, and just before the Butterweg/Erzengel fork, you’ll see the cross-country ski trail house and, next to it, the restaurant and guesthouse “Am Schwefelbach.” Turn right onto Erzengelweg and the path leads slightly uphill. Just before the junction with Eisenstraße, you’ll see the Auersberg on your right. There, the rotating antenna of the air traffic control facility towers above everything. You’ll now see a signpost indicating the “Euregio-Egrensis” long-distance cycling trail.

Turn left and ride uphill to the “Dreckpfütze” at 937 m above sea level. You then turn right and, just a few meters later, immediately left onto the Kammweg, reaching the Butterweg / Mittelflügel rest area at 950 m above sea level. Continue left onto the “Drei-Talsperren-Wanderweg” toward Weitersglashütte. The path on the right leads over the Mittelflügel to Sauschwemme and the Auersberg. You’ll reach the border crossing into the Czech Republic and cross the old Karlsbader Straße. Just before this intersection, you’ll see a sign on the left pointing to the “KAMMtour” bike path. Continue straight ahead; the path descends, and you’ll see on both sides the damage caused by Hurricane “Kyrill” on January 18, 2007. After a while, you’ll reach the “Hirschlecken” rest area.

After a gentle climb, the path descends steeply, then crosses a newly built small bridge, and you’ll reach the Weitersglashütte bus turnaround. Continue left. Halfway up the climb, you leave the ridge trail and turn right toward the dam, about 1 km away. You circle the dam and then continue to the right to reach the dam wall. Halfway there, a small path leads down to the water on the left. If you like, you can take

a short detour here. Cross the dam wall, leave the dam area, and turn left. If you’d like to stop at the “Talsperre” restaurant, turn right here. After a short climb, you’ll come to a peculiar-looking rest area—three tree trunks with their roots pointing upward. This memorial commemorates the storm of June 22, 1998, which destroyed approximately 52 hectares of prime spruce stands in the Carlsfeld, Brückenberg, and Wildenthal districts. Thanks to “Kyrill,” you can now also enjoy a view of the dam from behind. After a gentle climb, you’ll reach a fork in the road with a shelter; there, turn left onto Flößweg toward Weitersglashütte, then reach the old Frühbußer Straße and turn left again. After a steep descent, you’ll reach Weitersglashütte once more and follow the path back to Johanngeorgenstadt.
