Character

Follow Schwefelwerkstraße and Butterweg in a north-westerly direction until you reach Dreckpfütze, which you leave to the right. Follow the paved iron road slightly downhill to the Henneberg restaurant. A short detour to the "Kleiner Kranichsee" viewpoint brings you closer to the fauna and flora of the high moorland landscape. Back at the Henneberg restaurant, follow the signposted ski trail to the right up to the Buchschachtelberg. The trail runs parallel to the border as far as the winter border crossing and then turns left into Heymannschneise, which leads downhill to Oberjugel. You cross the Kammweg and follow the road past the customs houses, the hiking home, to the "Alte Rodelbahn" junction, which you walk down to the left in the direction of Lehmergrund. In the beautiful valley of the Lehmergrund, take a short break at the refuge, then cross the new bridge and conquer the opposite slope past the old hut house and follow the mining nature trail to the Pferdegöpel, where this loop ends again.
